Gerrard ranks Suarez above Torres, Rooney & Owen as best striker he has played with

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed that Luiz Suarez is the best striker that he has ever played alongside.

The England midfielder took to Twitter for a question-and-answer session on with sponsors, Adidas, and when asked who the most skilled forward he has ever played with is – in spite of playing alongside the likes of Wayne Rooney, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen and Fernando Torres – he opted for the Uruguayan.

But the 32-year-old did admit that the former Ajax star was the most mischievous in training, branding him “a nuisance”.

In other questions, Gerrard hailed Xabi Alonso as the player he would most like to bring back to the club, stating that the Real Madrid man is the “best midfielder I’ve played with, I miss playing with him”.

He named Jose Mourinho as the manager he has never played under but would most like to, while claiming that if he had to pick between playing alongside Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, the Argentinian would narrowly edge it.

Gerrard has represented England at five major tournaments, and when asked who he would pick alongside him in a national side dream team, he selected Manchester United greats Paul Scholes and David Beckham, with Anfield legend Steve McManaman.

Both Suarez and Gerrard are expected to miss the Europa League clash with Anzhi Makhachkala in Russia, as Liverpool travel to Chelsea on Sunday and the Uruguay international is currently Brendan Rodgers’ only fit striker in the senior squad.
