Liverpool – Chelsea Goalscorer Preview: Reds can make Sterling start at 9/1

With the limelight firmly on Suarez and Sturridge, our tipster is backing another player to break the deadlock at Anfield this Sunday

With 50 goals scored in the Premier League this season from Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge combined, it’s no surprise that opposition sides focus their main effort on containing these two strikers in sensational form.

Come Sunday, Chelsea could be the latest side to fall victim to the SAS combination. With the title on the line and Sturridge returning from injury, Liverpool will be at full strength for this crunch clash, which is more than can be said about the visitors.

With John Terry and Petr Cech both out of the match due to injury, the Chelsea defence will have more of a task then they may have had at the start of the week with a full team available.

Unsurprisingly Suarez and Sturridge are the two favourites to open the scoring at the weekend, pricing them at 7/2 (4.50) and 4/1 (5.00) respectively. If you fancy them to net anytime, you can back Suarez at 8/11 (1.73) and Sturridge at 10/11 (1.91).

With men likely to be rested by Jose Mourinho this weekend, many are predicting Demba Ba to start for the Blues, with the striker scoring twice in recent weeks. Paddy Power price him at 10/1 (11.00) to score first. Whilst this is a long price for a man leading Chelsea’s line, the real value in this market rests with a man in sensational form for Liverpool

Raheem Sterling has been exceptional for the Reds this season, chipping in with nine league goals. The winger, who is being tipped to star for England at the World Cup, has scored in important games for Liverpool this campaign, netting against Tottenham away, twice against Arsenal at home, as well as breaking the deadlock against Man City last time out at home, and netting twice against Norwich last weekend.

With Brendan Rodgers’s seemingly getting the best out of Sterling, it’s tough to ignore the price of 9/1 (10.00) for him to score first this weekend.

This would have paid out in Liverpool’s last two matches, and with no value found in backing Suarez and Sturridge, Sterling is the man to back in this crunch match.

New Paddy Power customers can also get their choice of either 4/1 (5.0) on Liverpool to win this match or 9/1 (10.0) on Chelsea to leave Anfield with three points.
