Lallana refuses to rule out move away from Southampton

The Saints captain is being watched by a clutch of top clubs and, after Saturday’s win over Everton, declined the chance to publicly commit future to Mauricio Pochettino’s side

Southampton captain Adam Lallana has refused to rule out a move away from St Mary’s in the summer.

The England international shone once again for the Saints as they beat Everton 2-0 on Saturday, to set themselves up for a likely top-eight finish.

With a place in the England World Cup squad seemingly in the bag, the midfielder is hot property and several clubs are keeping tabs on Lallana, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham all monitoring his situation at Southampton.

The 25-year-old remained tight-lipped on his future, though, refusing to rule out a possible transfer, as he insisted he is solely focused on Southampton’s final fixtures.

“I just want to enjoy my football,” he told BT Sport. “That’s when I’m at my happiest, when I’m playing well.

“Playing in a great, youthful team like this I feel like one of the experienced players nowadays.

“I just want to concentrate on the last two games of the season and we’ll sit down in the summer and see what happens.”

Mauricio Pochettino’s men had two own goals to thank for their win over Everton, which sees them move six points clear of ninth-placed Newcastle.
