The Egyptian forward believes the 21-year-old Basel star will move to Anfield when the transfer window opens next month
Liverpool are “99 per cent certain” to sign Basel’s
Mohamed Salah in January, according to the winger’s former team-mate Mohamed Zika.
Salah has impressed with his performances in Europe for the Swiss champions, scoring twice against Chelsea in the Champions League this season, while also netting against Tottenham and the Blues in the Europa League last term.
Salah has previously spoken of his admiration for Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United, but Zika says he is virtually certain the 21-year-old will move to Anfield during the winter transfer window.
“Yes, I am 99 per cent sure this will happen,” Zika told Egyptian television.
“He makes us and all of Egypt proud. Everybody talks about Mohamed Salah now – and aside from that he’s my friend. I’m very happy for him.”
Salah has scored four times in 18 Super League games for Basel this season and netted six times in eight games during Egypt’s World Cup qualifying campaign.
However, it is the 21-year-old’s exploits in Europe that have stood out so far this term, with Salah scoring five times in 10 Champions League appearances.
