Melbourne Victory-Liverpool Betting Preview: Expect the Reds to make an explosive start

Brendan Rodgers takes his side to Australia looking to continue where they left off against Indonesia, with our tipster backing the Reds to dominate

The Melbourne Cricket Ground, better known as the MCG will play host for Liverpool’s third pre-season friendly of the season, where they take on Melbourne Victory.

Brendan Rodgers has been re-united with Luis Suarez and this match will mark the first time Suarez has pulled on a Liverpool shirt since biting Branislav Ivanovic.

Liverpool come into this match having already played two friendlies so far this summer. The Merseysiders travelled the short distance to Lancashire to take on a Preston side, who they dispatched with ease, 4-0.

The Reds then travelled to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, where they also dominated proceedings, winning 2-0.  Bet365 price Liverpool at a short 3/10 (1.33) to carry on their winning run.

Melbourne Victory had a good domestic season last term, finishing third in the A-League, 13 points behind Champions Western Sydney Wanderers.

Ange Postecoglou’s men however, have not played a competitive game since they were knocked out of the A-League Final Series back in April. Bet365 don’t give Victory much chance of winning here either, pricing them at a long 15/2 (8.50) to win the match. The same firm offers the draw at 9/2 (5.50).

A bet that stands out in this fixture is in the handicap market, with Liverpool -1 priced at 5/6 (1.83). Rodgers men have not struggled for goals this pre-season, keeping clean sheets in their matches as well. With the likes of Philippe Coutinho, the aforementioned Suarez and Raheem Sterling in the squad, the Reds should have enough to see off their opponents by at least a two goal margin.

For those looking for more value, Liverpool to win both halves at 6/4 (2.50) is certainly worth investing in. With Liverpool expected to dominate proceedings from the start, this price is well worth backing when you consider it would have paid out in both of their pre-season friendlies so far.
