BREAKING NEWS: Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers to miss QPR clash through illness

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will miss his side’s Premier League clash against QPR after being struck down by a suspected virus.

The Northern Irishman has been sent home as coming into close proximity with any of his players or staff could see him pass the illness on.

Assistant manager Colin Pascoe will partner coach Mike Marsh as they deputise for Rodgers against Harry Redknapp’s team at Loftus Road.

As well as the 39-year-old boss, Glen Driscoll, Liverpool’s head of performance, and goalkeeper Brad Jones have been sent home after being assessed by the club doctor Zaf Iqbal.

“It was impossible for Brendan, Glen and Brad to attend the game,” Dr Iqbal told the club’s official website.

“They are not fit to be at the match and any contact with the rest if the squad could cause the bug to spread to more of the playing staff.”
