Swansea City – Liverpool Betting Preview: Underrated Swans can cause problems for Rodgers’ Reds

Swansea City have made a solid start to the Premier League season and Michael Laudrup’s men will be hoping to pick up another three points when they welcome former manager Brendan Rodgers and his Liverpool side to Liberty Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The two sides met in the Capital One Cup at Anfield last month with the Swans winning 3-1 and Rodgers will be desperate to exact some revenge on his former employers by picking up three points in the Premier League this weekend.

Swansea, though, have been in fine form in recent weeks, having lost just one of their last seven outings but, nevertheless, they are chalked up at 13/5 (3.60) to see off the Reds.

Liverpool were on song at the weekend as they cruised to a 3-0 home victory over Wigan Athletic and can be backed at even money (2.0) to keep the momentum going with another victory here while the same firm go 5/2 (3.50) that the match ends in a draw.

It is worth noting that Liverpool have drawn three of their five away matches in the league this term while the Swans have been held at Liberty Stadium three times in their six home matches so a tight encounter can be anticipated here.

Two of the Premier League’s in-form players will go head to head this weekend as Luis Suarez, who has scored six goals in his last six appearances for the Reds squares up to Michu, who has managed an impressive haul of seven goals in 12 league matches for the Swans thus far.

Suarez is available at a tempting 4/1 (5.0) to score first while the same firm offer a hugely appealing 8/1 (9.0) quote that it is Michu who bags the opening goal of the game.

The Swans have been beaten just once at Liberty Stadium in the league so far this season and Michael Laudrup’s men are good value at 8/11 (1.73) with a one goal start in Bet365’s handicap market while the 8/1 (9.0) quote from the same firm for danger man Michu to break Sunday’s deadlock should be snapped up by value hunters here.
