Joe Cole: I still have a future at Liverpool

Joe Cole believes that he still has a future at Liverpool after an impressive outing against Young Boys in the Europa League.

Cole scored one and made another in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at Anfield, which leaves the Reds needing to match or better the Swiss side’s result against Anzhi, when they face Udinese on the final matchday.

The 31-year-old pointed to a fine career at other clubs as proof of his ability, and insists he is getting back to full fitness after a hamstring injury.

“I was a good player at West Ham, Chelsea and Lille and I think I can be a good player at Liverpool,” Cole told reporters.

“I’m getting stronger with every game. It is normal that a player wants to play all the time. It was my third game back from a hamstring problem and I felt good.”

A late Elsad Zverotic strike saw the Reds surrender a 2-1 lead, and Cole was left frustrated that the side didn’t pick up a valuable three points.

“It’s disappointing,” he continued. “It was just the game management at the end.

“We need to see the game out. Maybe we had a few young players on the pitch but we should have killed the game off. Fair credit though it was a good finish from their kid.”
