Liverpool – Udinese Betting Preview: Italian visitors may scrape a draw at Anfield

After a sticky start, Liverpool have now won three of their last four games and probably deserved to taste victory in against Manchester United, the sole loss.

The Reds have also scored five in two of those games so the signs are it is coming together for Brendan Rodgers’s side.

There is a chance to build on that good form at home to Udinese in Group A of the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Liverpool are 4/7 (1.57) to make it six points from two group games after their away win at Young Boys two weeks ago.

Udinese are perhaps a little disappointed to even be in this competition after being edged out on penalties by Braga in a Champions League play-off.

It has summed up a poor start to the season for the Serie A side in which the Italians have won only one of their first nine matches of the campaign.

But that victory did come against AC Milan and they will be hoping to raise themselves once more for the trip to Anfield. Udinese are 5/1 (6.00) to win the match.

The draw is available at 11/4 (3.75) and that may be of interest given that the visitors have drawn six of their last nine games.

The most recent two of those draws have been in their previous two matches – both of which ending goalless. That suggests head coach Francesco Guidolin is trying to tighten things up.

Another goalless draw here can be backed at 10/1 (11.00) and looks a value option, although Liverpool will have confidence after the thrashing of Norwich and will expect to avoid that fate.

But Juventus are the only team to score more than two against Udinese despite their indifferent start – and on that occasion they were reduced to 10 men.

As a result, backing under 2.5 goals at 17/20 (1.85) looks to be the pick of the bets in this one.
