Borini: Goals will come for Liverpool

Fabio Borini insists he remains confident that he and his Liverpool team-mates will start converting more scoring chances soon.

The Reds have made a disappointing start to the Premier League season, losing to West Brom and Arsenal and drawing to Manchester City and Sunderland, only managing four goals in the process.

Borini has also failed to impress thus far, scoring just one goal in eight games, however, he says he is working hard to ensure the dry spell ends soon, and is adamant the team have enough quality to put things right.
“I’m working really hard on the training ground,” the 21-year-old told the club’s official website.

“On my physical condition, technical side and tactical as well, with the manager and the assistant manager after training, with Luis [Suarez] and all the other players.

“There’s not a particular key that can convert the chances into goals.

“It’s just probably a moment or a matter of inches or luck. But I think we have qualities to convert the chances, we see in training and we work everyday on shooting. It will come.

“I know they will come because as a striker you always get chances in a game. It’s probably just a moment that you get unlucky or the keeper makes saves. It’s just a moment.”

After failing to break into the starting XI at Chelsea, the former Roma man is relishing the chance to play more first-team football at Liverpool, who have only two recognised strikers on their books.

“I’ve played lots of games and I’ve been involved in all of them,” he continued. “It’s great for me because I can get more experience than I played last year.

“I can get more experience in any kind of football – English Premier League and European football – which is very good for me. I didn’t have pre-season training, it was hard at the beginning but now I feel a lot better.”

Borini, who has represented Italy at every youth level from the Under-17 onwards, has already proven his versatility on Merseyside, playing as a central striker – his favourite position – as well as out wide.

And the attacker revealed he would be willing to play anywhere for the team, admitting: “My favourite position and my natural position, as I’ve said in the past, is up front, because I played there every time in my career.

“But if to help the team I need to play left or right, midfield or even in goal, it’s not a problem because to help the team I will do anything. That’s the way it is, and all the players have to do that.”
