Borini happy to fight for Liverpool place, says agent

The former Chelsea striker could not agree moves to Sunderland and QPR in the summer but is willing to wait for his opportunity under Brendan Rodgers

Fabio Borini is keen to fight for his place at Liverpool and has no intention of leaving Anfield, according to his agent Marco de Marchi.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Sunderland having struggled to make an impact for Brendan Rodgers’ side and was linked with a return to the Stadium of Light, as well as QPR, before the transfer window closed at the end of August.

Borini has made two Premier League appearances so far this season, starting once against West Ham, but his representative revealed that the former Chelsea frontman is determined to battle for a regular place in the side.

“At this moment I am certainly not going to look for another club, as the boy is happy to remain at Liverpool,” said De Marchi. “Let’s not forget he left a journey he already started at Roma in order to come to England.

“He has managed to find some space playing in the Champions League and starting in the Premier League. Things are progressing as expected.

“Borini is a top-level player, so consequently he has a contract with Liverpool and any club interested knows how to approach them.

“Liverpool have no intention of loaning him out, as they already proved in August.

“The situation is exactly the same as it was in September, in the sense that he is very happy to be part of this important team.”

Borini scored 10 goals in all competitions for Sunderland last season, but has yet to open his account for Liverpool in the current campaign.

Mancini: Balotelli knows Liverpool is his last chance

The Italy striker has struggled to capture his best form since arriving at Anfield from AC Milan and his former boss believes he will get no more opportunities

Roberto Mancini believes Mario Balotelli’s spell at Liverpool is the striker’s final opportunity to prove himself.

Mancini worked with the striker at both Inter and Manchester City, and knows as well as anyone how Balotelli’s actions away from the field can overshadow anything he does on the pitch.

Balotelli has developed a reputation for having a fiery temper, but his list of honours at the age of 24 is impressive.

The Italy international has won four domestic league titles, as well as the FA Cup, Coppa Italia and Champions League.

Balotelli completed a move from Milan to Liverpool during the transfer window, but is yet to recapture the prolific form which saw him net 26 league goals in 43 appearances at San Siro.

And Mancini believes the forward must use his time at Anfield to display his qualities and prove any doubters wrong.

“Mario is a good guy, but he is aware that Liverpool is probably his final opportunity to prove what he can do on the pitch,” he said,

“It’s his last chance. I often talk to him via text message, but only he can help himself now.

“He told me that he wants to and must score more goals for Liverpool.”
