Paddy Power are offering new customers great enhanced prices on both teams in the first Premier League action of the weekend

After dropping points from a winning position against West Brom last weekend, Brendan Rodgers will be desperate for his side to haul themselves back into title contention with a win over top of the table Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

Paddy Power make the home side an 11/10 (2.10) chance to collect their 11th Premier League win at Anfield this season but new customers are being offered a special enhanced price about the Merseyside outfit securing three points.

New Paddy Power account holders can get 9/2 (5.50) on Liverpool to win. Alternatively, for those who are siding with Arsene Wenger’s men, the same firm are enhancing the Gunners’ price to 11/2 (6.50) from 12/5 (3.40).

Both sides have plenty of injuries to contend with as the season enters its final 14 matches, with Liverpool missing Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger, Lucas Leiva and Jose Enrique. A factor that has seen the Reds concede six goals in their last four matches in the Premier League.

Arsene Wenger has selection headaches of his own though, a midfield injury crisis means the Gunners have serious issues ahead of this game. They’ll be without the likes of Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey an potentially Jack Wilshere and Mikael Arteta.

With both teams missing some key personnel but with plenty of attacking resources to call upon, it seems logical that the game could contain plenty of goals.

Over 2.5 goals is predictably short at 4/7 (1.57) but over 3.5 goals at 6/4 (2.50) could well be achievable. Liverpool have seen at least four goals in eight of their 12 Premier League games at Anfield this season.

Whichever side punters are leaning towards for this blockbuster clash, Paddy Power’s great enhanced prices of 9/2 (5.50) on Liverpool or 11/2 (6.50) on Arsenal offer new customers a great chance to profit from what could be a very entertaining match to kick off the Premier League weekend.

Suarez: Liverpool must prove title credentials against Arsenal

The Reds have lost all three of their games against the Gunners, Manchester City and Chelsea this season and the striker underlined the importance of taking points off their rivals

Luis Suarez has urged his Liverpool team-mates to prove their title credentials against Premier League leaders Arsenal on Saturday.

Despite leading the division going into the Christmas period, just three wins in their last seven Premier League games have seen Brendan Rodgers’s side drop to fourth – eight points off the Gunners.

Liverpool have lost all three games against their title rivals so far this season – defeated by Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea – and Suarez feels that a win on Saturday would be beneficial beyond just the points haul.

“Arsenal are the leaders in the table and victory would be good for morale, give the whole squad an enormous injection and reduce the points difference at the top,” Suarez is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.

“We didn’t have success at the Emirates Stadium [in November] so our objective now is to win and I believe we have that chance.

“It has been such a hard season. It’s rare that everything could be decided on the last day but we must keep going and to ensure that happens we need results against the other main candidates.”

Meanwhile, former manager Kenny Dalglish has hinted that Liverpool should concentrate on retaining their fourth placing – and Champions League football – in light of challlenges from Everton, Tottenham and Manchester United.

He added: “Liverpool are in fourth spot right now and someone has to come and take it off them because they’re not going to give it up.

“They’re two points better off than [Everton] and they have a massively better goal difference. You have to play one game at a time but they are in a very good position at a good time.”

Rodgers: Liverpool are not title contenders

The manager believes his squad are not ready to win the Premier League due to the strength in depth of rivals Manchester City and Chelsea, but is confident his team can play a part

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes it is too soon for his team to be considered Premier League title contenders.

The Anfield outfit led the table heading into the Christmas period but have since faltered, with eight points now separating Rodgers’ fourth-placed side from table-toppers Arsenal.

Just three wins in their last seven league games have dented the club’s hopes of bridging that gap and Rodgers believes his squad’s strength in depth is inferior to that of Liverpool’s title rivals.

“I think for us, as a team, it’s too early for that,” he told Sky Sports.

“I was at the Manchester City-Chelsea game the other night and I look at the squads they have – which they have built up over the last few years – and it’s very difficult for us, even though we have competed right the way through the season.

“So, I wouldn’t say for us this year, no. We wouldn’t be challengers for [the title].”

Liverpool do still have home games to come against all the sides above them – starting with Arsenal this weekend, before Manchester City and Chelsea both visit Anfield in April.

And Rodgers is confident his side will play a decisive role in where the Premier League trophy ends up.

“Will we play a part in it? Yes, we will, because we are professional and we want to fight to finish as high as we possibly can,” he added.

“We look it and there are six points between us and (third-placed) Chelsea, so there is still a lot to play for and we will be fighting right until the very end.

“But, if I’m asked to give an honest answer, I’d probably say that this year is too soon for us.”
