Suarez would relish Ronaldo link up

The Uruguayan has repeatedly hinted he would like to leave Anfield this summer in recent weeks, and has now suggested Santiago Bernabeu is his ideal destination

Luis Suarez has fuelled speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid by admitting he would like to play with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Suarez has strongly hinted in recent weeks that he is looking to leave Liverpool this summer, citing relentless negative media attention resulting from his numerous controversies as the cause of his unrest.

Spain is believed to be the Uruguayan’s preferred destination, and on national television in his homeland he revealed he is excited by the prospect of linking up with los Blancos‘ Portuguese superstar.

“Of course I would like to play with Cristiano Ronaldo – he is a great player,” Suarez said. “You never know, but it is complicated.

“At the moment he is in Madrid and I am in Liverpool and I do not know what is going to happen.”

Suarez also took the time to express regret over his biting of Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic – an act which earned him a 10-match ban from the Football Association.

“The incident with Ivanovic – I know I made a mistake, it was me, my fault, and he did not do anything to me,” he added.

“I was angry because I had given away a penalty for hand ball. I was the cause of the penalty against my team – I saw red and completely lost it. I can’t really explain it and I am so sorry.”

Skrtel agent set for Liverpool talks amid Napoli interest

The Slovakia international has been linked with a reunion with the man who brought him to Anfield at San Paolo, and his agent admits his client will consider any offers

Martin Skrtel’s agent has revealed he will hold talks with Liverpool next week to decide his future as speculation mounts over a possible move to Napoli.

Skrtel struggled to find his best form under Brendan Rodgers last season, with retiring veteran Jamie Carragher preferred alongside Daniel Agger in the second half of the campaign.

Rafa Benitez’s appointment at Napoli has sparked reports of a reunion with the man who brought him to Anfield, and Skrtel’s agent admits his client would consider any offer from the Italians.

“There has been no contact between the two clubs. Martin has a contract with Liverpool and it is important to honour that,” Karol Csonto told Italian station Radio Crc.

“Obviously Napoli know Martin well, but there cannot be any contact between us and them if they do not first reach an agreement with Liverpool.

“Between Martin Skrtel and Rafa Benitez is a professional relationship that has gone on from the years they spent together at Liverpool.

“[Napoli midfielder] Marek Hamsik and Skrtel are very good friends and they met last week. The midfielder requested information from Martin about Benitez, while Skrtel has asked questions about Napoli.

“But I think that if Napoli want to take Skrtel, they should first talk to Liverpool. I will be in England next week to talk with Liverpool and define Martin’s future.”

Reina not seeking Liverpool exit, insists agent

The goalkeeper has been linked with both a move to Barcelona and a reunion with former Reds boss Rafael Benitez at Napoli this summer

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is not looking for a move away from Anfield during the summer, according to the player’s agent.

The Spaniard has been linked with a move to Barcelona after Victor Valdes voiced his desire to seek a new challenge away from Camp Nou, while Napoli have been mentioned as a possible destination following former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez’s appointment.

Valdes tipped Reina as his successor for when he does ultimately depart Catalunya, with the Reds No.1 previously admitting a move to the Liga champions would be hard to refuse, but his representative, Manuel Garcia Quilon, insists the 30-year-old will most likely remain at Anfield.

“Reina has been clear in recent days his thoughts, his future is still at Liverpool,” Garcia Quilon told tuttomercatoweb.com. “At the moment there are no chances for Napoli and Barcelona.

“Pepe considers Benitez a great coach but his future will still be at Anfield.”

Reina joined Liverpool from Villarreal in 2005, going on to make 395 appearances in all competitions.
