Win an iPad 3 in Goal.com’s Premier League Fantasy Football league

Goal.com is pleased to announce a new Totel Football league exclusively for Goal.com readers and there are great prizes to be won including an iPad 3 and football jerseys

The new Totel Football free-to-play fantasy football game has landed with a variety of great prizes to welcome you on board.

As with most other fantasy football games you pick 11 players and four substitutes from the week’s Premier League fixtures to compete against fellow fantasy managers.

This offer is open to new and existing Totel Football customers who are over the age of 18. Anyone without an account to sign up here ready for the first gameweek. Only customers who sign up through Goal.com will be able to enter this league so be sure to use this link.

Your overall success hinges on the performance of your selections on the pitch, with points awarded for events such as assists, goals, clean sheets but taken away for conceding goals, penalty misses and receiving cards.

The Totel Football game differs slightly in two ways; firstly each game week brings a new competition, meaning you get to choose a new team for each round of fixtures.

Secondly, players do not have valuations and there are no budget restrictions (although you can only choose two players from each club).

So if you’ve always wanted a strike force of Robin van Persie and Luiz Suarez with Juan Mata, Santi Cazorla and Gareth Bale providing the ammunition, you can do just that.

This league will be exclusive to Goal.com readers over the age of 18 who sign up through the site and there’s also the chance to pit your fantasy football brain against some of Goal.com’s staff every week until the end of the season.

Another 12 game weeks remain in the Premier League this season, meaning you have 12 opportunities to enter the competition.

Winners will be determined by adding together each fantasy manager’s six highest scores (so you will stand a chance of winning even if you miss a week), the more points you earn the more likely you are to win.

A top five overall finish will secure a prize, with the overall winner pocketing an iPad 3 and the second to fifth winning a football jersey of their choice.

To enter the Goal.com league, select your squad for this week, then click on the Free Play option when you see the league selection screen (see above).

Anyone without a Totel Football account can sign up here.

Good luck!

Lucas: Coutinho can be a Liverpool great

The Brazilian midfielder feels that his countryman can take the Premier League by storm at Anfield if he is given enough time to adapt to the pace after arriving from Italy

Lucas Leiva believes that Philippe Coutinho can be a Liverpool star once he is given time to adapt to the pace of the Premier League.

The youngster completed his move to Anfield from Inter in January and found the back of the net on his full debut in the 5-0 rout of Swansea City on Sunday.

Lucas expects that the 20-year-old’s eye-catching display will prove to be just a taste of what his compatriot is capable of producing at Anfield in the years to come, although he stresses the importance of giving the South American time to adapt to his new surroundings.

“I’m really happy for him,” the Reds star told the club’s official website. “We were talking about the pace of the Premier League and even with the training sessions he has found it is much quicker than in Italy.

“He will need time to settle but that goal will give him confidence. We could see a lot of positive things from him against Swansea. Hopefully he will be a great player for now and for the future as he’s only 20 but he will need time.

“Every single young player who comes to the Premier League finds it difficult when they first come. It will be the same for him.”

Lucas revealed how he had played a part in convincing Coutinho to come to Anfield and how he is now helping him settle in, adding: “I’ve told him about how he will be successful here. He is trying to adapt and play quick because he knows he needs that tempo to be successful.

“He has the skills and the ability to do well. We just need to support and help him.”

I’d be delighted if Bale goes to Real Madrid, jokes Reina

The Liverpool shot-stopper quipped that he has had enough of the Welshman causing him problems, but ruled out a return to Barcelona to replace the outgoing Victor Valdes

Pepe Reina has joked that he would love to see Gareth Bale move to Real Madrid, so that he does not have to face the Tottenham winger.

The current Liga champions are long-term admirers of Bale’s and Goal.com revealed in December that the north London club are already preparing for his potential exit in the summer.

And Reina believes that Bale is comparable to Liverpool talisman, Luis Suarez, who has also been linked with a move to Spain, although the keeper does not believe the Uruguay man will leave Anfield.

He told Marca: “If Real Madrid signs Bale I’ll be delighted. He causes me a lot of problems!

“I can’t see Luis Suarez playing in La Liga. I think he’ll stay at Liverpool. He’s a great player. So are Bale and a few others in the Premier League.”

The shot-stopper also backed Real Madrid to beat Manchester United in their Champions League second-leg clash in two weeks after a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu last week.

“I want Real to win the Champions League tie against United,” Reina added. “It’s a Spanish team and I’ve got lots of friends there.”

Reina himself has been linked with a move from Liverpool. Arsenal are keen admirers in the Spaniard, while he has also been linked with a return to Barcelona to fill in for Victor Valdes, who has announced he will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of next season.

He said: “I’m sure Victor Valdes will have his reasons for deciding to leave Barcelona. I respect him. He’s my team-mate and friend.

“He’ll be leaving with his head held high, as he’s given his all to Barcelona. Any talk of me joining Barca is just speculation. I’ve got a contract at Liverpool and I’m very happy here.”
