Liverpool striker Morgan completes Rotherham loan move

Young Liverpool striker Adam Morgan has completed a month-long loan move to Rotherham United.

Brendan Rodgers’ is sending the 18-year-old to the League Two side to pick up experience after featuring briefly for the Reds’ this season.

Morgan started three of the Merseyside outfit’s Europa League games this campaign, against Hearts twice and Anzhi Makhachkala.

“A lot of hard work has taken place to get this young lad to the club,” United manager Steve Evans told the club’s official website

The striker, who has played for England at Under-17 and Under-19 level, will stay at the Millers until February 9.

Morgan will join up with Evans’ squad ahead of their trip to face Aldershot in the third round of the FA Cup.

Sturridge ‘has the quality’ to succeed at Liverpool, insists Gerrard

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard insists Daniel Sturridge has the talent to be a star for the club, following his €14.8 million move from Chelsea.

The England striker was in attendance as the Reds beat Sunderland 3-0 at Anfield on Wednesday evening, and the Liverpool skipper is looking forward to linking up with the 23-year-old.

“Daniel has the quality,” Gerrard told Sky Sports. “I know he’s got it – I’ve seen it.

“He has said he wants to play football for a big club, the stage is set for him.

“He’s at an age now where he should be performing week in week out. There will be no excuses for him. He will be playing with good players at a great club.

“It’s all there for him. He just has to go and grasp it with both hands.

“I think he’s at the age now when he needs to settle down, get a settled club and show consistently what qualities he’s got.

“Daniel’s arrival will help the club. He’s got power, pace, strength – he has got huge potential.

“He’s another attacking option and if you look at the bigger picture from the beginning of the season up until now, we have been a little bit short in the final third.”

Sterling: Playing alongside Suarez ‘is one of the best things ever’

Liverpool striker Raheem Sterling has described playing alongside Luis Suarez as “one of the best things ever” following the Uruguay international’s two-goal performance over Sunderland.

The 25-year-old scored a double in the Reds’ 3-0 victory over the Black Cats on Wednesday night, with the Uruguayan assisting Sterling for his second Premier League goal.

Sterling, who signed a new five-year deal with the Anfield outfit last month, insisted that he has learnt a lot from training and playing alongside Suarez, with the 18-year-old admitting he is constantly picking up things from his team-mate.

“Everyone knows how good he is,” Sterling told the club’s official website. “To play with him is one of the best things ever.

“He speaks to me a lot, telling me to move the ball quicker and stuff like that. In training, I try to watch him and take a few things off him. He’s a great player.

“As a young player, that’s what you’ve got to do – try to take a bit off players like him and [Steven] Gerrard and bring it to your own game.”

Sterling joined Liverpool from QPR’s youth academy in 2010 for a reported fee of £600,000 and has since made 23 first-team appearances for the Anfield outfit.

The youngster has admitted that he is happy with his two-goal tally this season, but has revealed his determination to extend that in the coming games.

“I’ve only scored two so that was the best one I’ve scored so far and hopefully there’ll be more,” he added.

“I thought we started a bit slowly [against Sunderland] but then we got into our game as we knew we could play – it was good to get the three points we really needed.”
