De Vrij signs Feyenoord extension until 2015

The centre-back has ended speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League by joining Jordy Clasie in signing a new deal with the Eredivisie giants

Feyenoord have successfully concluded contract negotiations with Stefan de Vrij and have announced on their official website that the defender has signed a new deal until the summer of 2015.

The centre-back’s previous contract with the Rotterdam giants was due to expire in June 2014 and clubs such as Everton and Liverpool were closely monitoring his situation at Feyenoord.

Nevertheless, De Vrij has now ended speculation about his future for now by signing a one-year extension to his existing deal.

“I still see a lot of room to improve myself and the team. I am very pleased that I can continue to be part of Feyenoord. I hope that we will be fighting for silverware again next season,” the 21-year-old commented on his contract renewal.

The Netherlands international is a product of the Feyenoord youth academy and has already made over 100 Eredivisie appearances for the Rotterdammers.

De Vrij’s contract renewal comes one day after the news that fellow Oranje international Jordy Clasie has signed a new deal until June 2016.

The midfielder was heavily linked with a transfer to Fiorentina, but opted to sign a two-year extension with Feyenoord instead as he’s reluctant to move abroad ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The 21-year-old playmaker has made 66 league appearances for Feyenoord since his return from a one-year loan spell at Excelsior in 2010-11.

Liverpool – QPR Preview: Carragher to bid farewell to Reds before retiring

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers could make a couple of changes from the side that beat Fulham 3-1 at Craven Cottage on Sunday, with Jose Enrique replacing Andre Wisdom and Fabio Borini could be handed a start after impressing with two substitute appearances lately.

Jamie Carragher starts his last game as a professional footballer and is expected to be partnered by Sebastian Coates at the heart of the Liverpool defence with Martin Skrtel (illness) unlikely to feature.

As for Harry Redknapp’s QPR side, Jose Boswinga could have played his last game for the club after being hauled off at half-time of their 2-1 defeat at home to Newcastle last time out, Fabio is expected to replace the Portuguese right-back.

Star striker Loic Remy returned to training on Friday following allegations of rape, and is available for selection, while Christopher Samba could return from a knee injury that has forced him to the Rs last three games as Julio Cesar (back) is expected to remain out.

  • The Reds icon has the unfortunate record of scoring more own goals than goals however, having sent eight in his own net.
  • Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in 10 of their last 15 Premier League home matches.
  • Brendan Rodgers’ side have won more top-flight games without Luis Suarez (58%) than with him (39%).
  • QPR have only managed to score 17 goals on the road this term, however that is more than the 13 notched at Loftus Road.
  • The Rs last won at Anfield back in March 1991 when a Les Ferdinand goal helped them to a 3-1 win.
  • Since winning two games back-to-back in early March, Harry Redknapp’s side have failed to win in eight, drawing two and losing six.

Pete Nordsted: Looking for more winners in the Both Teams to Score market

Pete is looking to end the season on a high with two tips including one from Anfield, where Liverpool host QPR in the Premier League

Well last week our very good run came to an end when both teams scored in the Manchester United and Sunderland matches. Let’s hope that we can finish this season with a couple of winning selections.

As always here we are following a system bet and you are advised to keep stakes reasonable and always try and obtain the best price available.

This weekend we have one match in the Premier League where relegated QPR visit Anfield to take on Liverpool and we also cross over to Spain where relegation threatened Deportivo La Coruna take on Espanyol

Brendan Rodgers will be fairly satisfied with his first season in charge at Anfield and the Reds have at times played some very good football although once again they have been let down by the odd inconsistent performance.

Looking through the stats that should not be the case this weekend when they meet Harry Redknapp’s men. Liverpool’s home record to the bottom clubs reads won seven, drawn three and lost two with four of these victories coming in the last five matches.

Indeed Liverpool have not conceded a goal in these last five matches and have kept a clean sheet in seven of the last nine.  When taking their general form into consideration both teams have scored in only four of Liverpool’s last 15 home games.

The “NO” outcome on both teams to score can be backed at 4/5 (1.80) and if you are feeling a little braver then Liverpool can be backed to win to nil at 19/20 (1.95) again .

Next we move over to Spain where Deportivo La Coruna will be looking for a victory to send them out of the relegation zone when they face mid-table Espanyol. When facing teams of Espanyol’s stature both teams have found the net in only four of the last 10 matches.

When looking at Espanyol’s record the stats are even stronger with both teams failing to score in eight of their last 10 league matches and in nine of their last 12 away to teams of Deportivo’s stature.

Here the “NO” selection on both teams to score can be backed at Evens (2.0) and this looks a solid bet given the above.

Liverpool v QPR
Deportivo v Espanyol
